Jed Castles is an Emmy award 4th generation American meteorologist working for NEWS 9 where he serves as a morning forecaster on the network on weekdays. He has served with the network since 1996.

Castles works for NEWS 9 where he serves as a morning forecaster on the network since 1996. He has a great passion for weather forecasting which he realized at the age of 7 years old after a tornado swept through southwest Tulsa. This made him want to learn more about these bizarre forces of nature. He was awarded an Emmy for the best morning newscast that was accorded to him in 2011. On May 24th, 2008 he was also acknowledged by the SPJ Oklahoma for his tornado coverage which was a 1st place video.
Being a Tulsa native, he went to Tulsa Memorial High School and later graduated. He later went to Oklahoma University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in meteorology. Additionally, Castles earned a seal of approval and recognition from the American Meteorological Society. Having worked countrywide, Castles has a great wealth of forecasting experience. Castles tenured at KOAM in Pittsburg, Kansas, prior to joining KWWL in snowy Waterloo, Iowa where he spent three years.
He later went to North Carolina, forecasting between the Appalachians and the Atlantic at WFMY in Greensboro. Then, Castles received a call from Gary England at News 9. He later relocated back home to his family in Oklahoma with a wealth of weather experience, from hurricanes to nor’easters. Additionally, he received approval to serve on the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council from the governor from 2005 to 2008. Being an Oklahoma’s Partners in Policymaking graduate, his passion lies in emergency preparedness and public awareness for people with disabilities.
