Jennifer Kastner is an American Reporter working with 10News/KGTV where she serves the station as an Investigative Reporter. She has been working with the station since the month of September 2017.

Kastner works with the 10News team where she serves the station as an Investigative Reporter. Prior to joining America’s Finest City, she spent two and a half years covering breaking news and special reports for CBS Los Angeles. She was privileged to have been awarded an Emmy during the summer of the year 2017 for her reporting on a man who was wrongfully imprisoned for murder, and released 23 years later.
Prior to this, she reported for KTNV located in Las Vegas where she was covering national interest stores like the alleged road rage shooting death of a Las Vegas mother, and the federal government’s fallout with cattle rancher Cliven Bundy. She also got her to start with on-air reporting at KWES Newswest 9 in Midland-Odessa in West Texas. This is where she learned how to say “y’all.”
Before she went on-air, she worked as an investigative producer for KVOA in Tucson, Arizona. While she was working with KVOA, she won an Edward R. Murrow Award for an investigation into the threatening work environment at Child Protective Services. She has also been nominated for four other Emmy Awards and an Associated Press award for her investigations and special projects.
Kastner got her foot in the door of this business by starting as a morning news producer for KION-TV in Salinas, California. While she was in living in Colorado, she interned for the investigative news team at KUSA-TV located in Denver.
Being a member of the Investigative Reporters and Editors, Incorporated, she traveled to New Orleans, Baltimore, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Miami. This is in addition to traveling for national investigative conferences and workshops. The year 2009 saw her being awarded the IRE’s national Jennifer Leonard Scholarship.
She has also done extensive post-baccalaureate pre-medical schoolwork to better her understanding of medical stories. Kastner has trained as a nationally-certified Emergency Medical Technician and has worked in trauma departments to develop her knowledge of the healthcare industry. Kastner is a proud native of San Diegan and enjoys surfing taste testing donuts and burritos, and yoga.
