Jerry Brown Biography

Jerry Brown is an American retired anchor/reporter known for having worked at WMBB where he served as the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. news anchor. He joined WMBB in August 2005 and retired in July 2021. Before joining WMBB, he worked as an anchor and reporter at WDEF-TV Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Rome, Georgia is his native home and this is also where he began his career in 1968 while he was 15 years old. While he was in high school, he started working at WROM AM and FM where he served as a part-time announcer. After he completed college, he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve, and his unit, the 209th Public Information Detachment was part of the American Forces Radio and Television Service. In addition, he was able to secure his first television job at  WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia in 1977 where he served as an anchor/reporter.

Later on, Brown worked at KFDX-TV Wichita Falls, Texas where he also served as an anchor/reporter. He has also worked at WDEF-TV Chattanooga, Tennessee, WKRN-TV Nashville, Tennessee, WTXL-TV Tallahassee, WWAY-TV Wilmington, North Carolina, and KFDX-TV Wichita Falls, Texas. Furthermore, he has also served on the Bay Haven Charter Academy Foundation and the Salvation Army Board. He has also assisted with the March of Dimes program.
