John Bernier Biography
John Bernier is an American meteorologist working for WRIC as the chief meteorologist. He joined the station in 1984 and has served the station for over 4 decades. On March 31, 2025, he shared that he would retire on April 23, 2025.

Bernier joined the University of Lowell, Massachusetts, when he finished his high school education. He later graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.

During his career, Bernier has received several honors, including a Special Service Award from the National Weather Service for his severe weather work and several AP awards for Best Weathercast/Weathercaster. In 1993, he received a mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for the best weathercaster in the region.
Bernier previously worked as a media editor for the National Weather Association’s Quarterly Digest. He serves as a founding member of the National Weather Association’s Committee on radio and television weathercasting.
