When he was about three years, a weak tornado passed through his neighborhood. Since then, he has been looking to the sky for the weather.
He had spent time as a storm chaser while attending the University of Kansas. After his graduation, he made his way to Tupelo where he started working at WTVA with both the Morning and noon shows in September of 1989. Asides from this, he is also a ham radio operator and speaks Croatian and Spanish.
