Matt Laubhan is an American Emmy award-winning Meteorologist working with WTVA News where he serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist. He has been working with the station since the year 2011.

Laubhan works with WTVA News where he serves the station as Chief Meteorologist. He works with the WTVA Weather Authority and is Northeast Mississippi’s first Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. Laubhan is a proud native of the small Kansas town of Russell. He is a proud graduate of the University of Kansas where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Atmospheric Science.

Later on, after college, he spent about seven years forecasting for TV stations in Lubbock, Texas. This was prior to moving to Tupelo in the year 2011. Together with the WTVA Weather Authority, they have received numerous awards and distinctions over the years. They were also recognized by the Mississippi State Senate for their life-saving severe weather coverage.

Among other accolades they also received includes 8 Emmy Award and 15 Emmy nominations for their weather coverage. He is happy to be working alongside his beautiful bride, Emily Leonard, who works as an Evening Anchor. Laubhan was awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Society. The AMS team designates the award to broadcast meteorologists who have met the criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.
