Johnson serves as the host of “1A” at NPR since November 2016. “1A” is a talk show which is aired on NPR and produced by WAMU 88.5. Prior to this, he previously worked at UC Berkeley where he served as a lecturer from August 2015 till his departure in December 2016 in Berkeley, California. In 2020, he publicized that he would be leaving 1A on December 20 and start working at MSNBC as an anchor. During his time at MSNBC, he served as the host of Now Tonight with Joshua Johnson on NBC News Now.
Before that, he worked at KQED where he served as a creator and host of “Truth Be Told” and also served as a morning newscaster from July 2010 to May 2016. From March 2004 to April 2010, he worked at WLRN Miami Herald News where he served as an anchor and reporter. Prior to that, he previously worked at WPEC-TV where he served as a planning Assignment Editor from January 2003 to March 2004.
