Judy Hsu is an Asian Emmy award-winning anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News at 4 pm and 6 pm. She joined ABC7’s primary daytime lineup after 15 years of “waking up” with Chicago. She returned to her hometown of Chicago in 2001.

Hsu anchors ABC7 Eyewitness News at 4 pm and 6 pm. She also hosts a long-layout interview section that airs on Sunday mornings called “Newsviews”, giving unique perspectives from Chicago region newsmakers as they address local and national topics pertinent to our community.

She also serves as the primary host of ABC7’s signature 30-minute program Asian Influences, which highlights first-rate contributions through Chicagoans of Asian Pacific American descent, at the same time inspecting troubles impacting the community.

In 2001, she was happy to return to her hometown to join ABC 7 as the weekday anchor of the station’s morning 4:30-7 AM block of news programming. She leads the morning show for 15 years prior to her promotion to the afternoon and early evening.

While she was staying at ABC 7, she became a part of just about every major story in Chicago either reporting in the neighborhoods or anchoring from the news desk. Judy as well reported live from the White House bringing ABC7 viewers extensive coverage of her one-on-one interview with President Barack Obama before he left the Oval Office.

Her on-air work has garnered multiple Emmys including awards for breaking news coverage and for her labor on ABC 7’s programming uniques Asian Influences and the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. To date, she has earned nearly two dozen Emmy nominations including “Outstanding Performance” as a news anchor. Prior to moving to ABC 7, she anchored the 4 PM weekday newscast at KFMB-TV in San Diego, California. Hsu worked as a general assignment reporter and KFMB’s weekend anchor before.
