Katie Horner Biography
Katie Horner is an American Meteorologist working with KMBC’s First Alert Weather Team for 9 News where he serves the station as a weather forecaster. Prior to KMBC, he worked as a Chief Meteorologist in the Kansas City area before her career took her east and west along Interstate 70.

Horner attended the University of Maryland where she studied Radio, TV, and Film between 1985 and 1987. From there, she went on to join the University of West Florida. There, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Relations and Marketing in the year 1989.

Horner works with KMBC 9 News where he serves the station as a Weather forecaster. For some time, he had commuted to St. Louis, Mo. every week in order to do the weather on KMOV and KSDK while taking care of her terminally ill father.
Later on, after he had passed, she headed west and took a job working as Public Affairs Director for the Kansas Adjutant General in Topeka, Kan. While working there, she also became the spokesperson for the Kansas National Guard and the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.
He had also previously been invited to join the First Alert Weather Team in the month of April 2018. Among her career highlights include serving on the Broadcast Board of the American Meteorological Society. She has also founded the “Seal of Approval Consulting” in order to help new meteorologists. Asides from this, she has also authored a children’s book, “Brainstorming.” This is a Creative Guide to Help Parents and Children Through Severe Weather. Asides from this, she has also been voted one of Kansas City’s most influential women.
Horner has run three half-marathons, the Dublin, Ireland Marathon, and the Chicago Marathon. Asides from this, she has also completed more than three dozen short triathlons, and too many 5k and 10k are to remember. Asides from this, she has also completed a 500-mile bike ride through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Her hobbies are a little less competitive now. Asides from this, she loves scuba, road biking, and scuba riding.
