Michael Abeyta Biography
Michael Abeyta is an American Multimedia Journalist/Editor/Photographer working for CBS4 News where he serves the station as a Multimedia Journalist since January 2018. Prior to this, he was serving the station News Photographer a role he held between November 2013 and December 2017.
Michael Abeyta Education
Abeyta attended William J.Palmer High School in downtown Colorado Springs. Later on, after his graduation, he went to join college at CU in Boulder. After this, he joined the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
Michael Abeyta Career
Abeyta works with CBS4 News where he serves the station as a Multimedia Journalist. After his graduation from “The U,” he was homesick for the Rockies and therefore moved back West. His first job was working as a News Photographer and Editor in Albuquerque, NM. There, he was working with the KOAT-TV team. While there, he covered the news for about five years before packing up and heading home to Colorado.
In Colorado, he has the privilege to sharpen his photography and editing skills as a Photojournalist for another local Denver TV station. This was prior to joining CBS4 working as a Photojournalist in the fall od year 2013. The year 2018 saw Michael transition to a Multimedia Journalist. This change allows him to exercise his writing skills and tell stories the way he likes them.
He has always loved watching the news since he was a little boy and enjoys every minute of his job. Asides from this, he states that he likes telling his neighbor’s stories. 2011 saw him win his first National Press Photographers Association TV Quarterly Clip Contest certificate when he received “Honorable Mention” in the “West Top Spot News” category for the 3rd quarter.
Abeyta continues to compete in the NPPA TV Quarterly Clip Contest and was placed second three times in the year 2013. He was placed Twice in the “West General Spot” category and once in the “West General Deadline” category. Abeyta states that his most memorable interview was the interview with Trey Parker because he made him laugh and the interview with Matt Stone.
He, however, states that his dream interview is an interview with The Dalai Lama or Pope Francis. In the course of his career, his first story was about a snowstorm in Albuquerque, NM. He states that his role models are Henry and Sheila, his parents, Ed and Lydia Baca, and Cesar Chavez his grandparents. Abeyta states that the main reason he is a journalist is to tell people’s stories. Away from work, he enjoys hiking, camping, and running. He states that his favorite sports team is Denver Broncos whereas his favorite musician is Common.

Abeyta is a fourth-generation Coloradan born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Michael likes to keep his personal life private hence has not yet disclosed the year and month he was born. It is therefore not known when he celebrates her birthday. However, he might be in his 40s.

He was raised alongside three blood siblings, Erica, Gabriela, and Andrew. Asides from this, he has a sister-in-law named Yvonne and a nephew named Enrique, and a niece, Lorena. He also has a brother from another mother named Matt who is married to his wife, Angelina, and together they have three lovely daughters.
