Kira Klapper is an American Reporter/Anchor working for NBC Bay Area where she serves the station as a Weekend Morning News Anchor for Today in the Bay. She has held this role since August 2018.

The Los Angeles native is a proud graduate of Boston University. There, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and a Concentration in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish. She studied at the University between 2002 and 2006.

Klapper works with NBC Bay Area serving the station as a Weekend Morning News Anchor. She joined the station in September 2014 working as a Saturday Morning News Anchor before taking up her current role in August 2018. Asides from that, she reports for Today in the Bay on Fridays.
She has worked as a journalist for more than 10 years. Prior to joining NBC Bay Area, she was working as a substitute anchor and Reporter at KGO-TV ABC7 in San Francisco. While there, she reported on daily breaking news stories as well as in-depth reports. Asides from that, she has also covered stories ranging from the Asian Airlines crash to the historic opening of the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge.
Previously, he has also worked as an Evening News Anchor for the CBS & NBC station for about two years in the Chico, Redding region of Northern California. She has also spent about two years working as a reporter, fill-in weather anchor, and substitute anchor for the FOX and CBS affiliates in Santa Barabara and San Luis Obispo counties. She kick-started her on-air career in Mankato, Minnesota where she worked as a “one-man band.” There, she was editing and shot her own video and wrote daily reports. Asides from that, she has anchored and produced the weekend newscasts.
Away from work, she can be found chasing after her son, traveling with her family, and going to concerts. For about 15 years, she supported and encouraged women’s heart health through the Go Red for Women initiative. Asides from that, she also spends her time volunteering and encouraging people to adopt shelter pets.
