Terry McSweeney is an American Anchor/Reporter working for NBC Bay Area News in San Francisco where he serves the station as an Anchor for the Weekend Evening News at 5, 6, and 11 PM. He also serves the station as a weekday Reporter. McSweeney has been working with the station since January 2013.

The San Francisco native is a lifelong 49ers and Giants fan. He attended UC Berkeley and is a proud graduate of San Francisco State University. There he obtained a Degree in Broadcast Journalism in the year 1981 after studying in the school since 1978.

McSweeney works with NBC Bay Area News where he serves the station as a Weekend Evening Anchor and Weekday Reporter. Prior to NBC Bay Area, he was working with KGO News in San Francisco. There, he served the station as a reporter and fill-in anchor between 2007 and January 2013.
Prior to this, he was working in newsrooms all over the country such as KTXL in Sacramento and WPBF in Palm Beach where he was serving the station as an Anchor and Reporter between 1995 and 1996. He has also served KSAZ in Phoenix, Arizona, and WTEN in Albany as an Anchor. He worked with WTEN between 2000 and 2006. While there, he reported live from New York City after the September 11 terrorist attacks and was named “Best Anchor” by the Albany Times Union.
His return to NBC Bay Area is a homecoming for him. He previously worked with the station as a general assignment reporter between 1987 and 1995. During this time, he was honored with two Edward R. Murrow Awards for his news reporting and coverage of breaking news.
