Kurtis Quillin Biography
Kurtis Quillin is an American Anchor/Reporter working with KCEN-TV/6 News in Temple, Texas where he serves the station as a Sports Director. There, he covers the robust local sports scene that ranges from more than 60 high schools to Baylor and the Big 12 Conference.

Quillin is a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in sports media with an emphasis in multimedia journalism. He also graduated with a minor in sports management in the year 2016.

Quillin works with KCEN 6 News where he serves the station as a Sports Director. He has been working with the KCEN team since July 2016. He joined the station working as a news and sports reporter. Asides from this, he has also worked with the station as a fill-in sports anchor. This was prior to moving up to Sports Reporter and Weekend Sports Anchor in the month of August 2019. He undertook the role of Sports Director in the month of November 2020.
He won a second-place sports anchor position in the year 2017 Texas AP Broadcasters Awards. Asides from this, he was also named to the 2018 Texas Association of School Boards Media Honor Roll. He also received the Salado High School football program’s 2018 Contribution to the Game Award.
The year 2019 saw the Texas AP Broadcasters Awards and won a 1st place sports anchor, 1st place sports, and 1st place sportscast. Asides from this, he has also won the 2nd place sports story and was part of the 2nd place sports special for 6 Sports’ Week 9 Friday Night Lights Live from Tiger Stadium in Rockdale.
He is a proud member of the Football Writers Association of America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Away from work, he is an active football and basketball official with the Texas Association of Sports Officials and Texas High School Basketball Officials Association.
He was named the top senior on his degree track in the spring of 2916 by the School of Media & Strategic Communications. While he was attending OSU, he also won numerous awards from Broadcast Education Association Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association, and the National Broadcasting Society.
