Lane Luckie Biography
Lane Luckie is an American journalist who serves on KLTV & KTRE since 2008. He anchors Good Morning East Texas each weekday and produces the station’s long-running ‘Power of Prayer’ series.
Lane Luckie Career
Lane previously worked at KTRE-TV in Lufkin and Nacogdoches as an evening anchor and executive producer. He moved to East Texas from Shreveport’s KTAL-TV, where he worked as a general assignment reporter. Lane also worked for the Natchitoches, Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau for four years in marketing.
Lane is a Louisiana native who graduated from Northwestern State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. Lane is a history geek who sees local journalism as a great way to write the “first draft” of history as it unfolds. He hopes that through sharing his enthusiasm for lifelong learning, people will be inspired to learn more about their community.
Lane is a two-time Regional Emmy winner from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Lone Star Chapter. The Associated Press, the Broadcast Education Association, and the Southeast Journalism Conference have all acknowledged his work. He was named a RIAS Berlin Commission fellow by the RTDNF in 2017, engaging in a trans-Atlantic exchange program for American and German broadcasters. As a fellow of the East-West Center, he flew to China the following year to report on trade tensions between the world’s leading economies.
He returned to Germany in 2019 to cover the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall as well as the federal elections in 2021.
He is the current president of the NSU Alumni Association and was named the ‘Distinguished Young Alumnus of the Year’ at NSU in 2017. Lane also serves on the board of directors of the Beta Omicron Alumni Chapter and Housing Corporation, as well as the advisory council for the NSU Department of New Media, Journalism, and Communication Arts.
Lane has been selected Pi Kappa Phi’s national ‘Volunteer of the Year,’ ‘Facilitator of the Year,’ and was named to the fraternity’s ‘Thirty Under 30’ list after presenting educational programming on dozens of college campuses around the country. As Chapter Advisor for Pi Kappa Phi at the University of Texas at Tyler and Stephen F. Austin State University, he has also served on the faculty for various leadership conferences and mentored student leaders.
He is involved in his church and donates his time to a number of community groups. One of Lane’s passions as a photographer is traveling to new places and capturing interesting shots of people and places along the way. He also enjoys going to the golf course.
