Lawrence Karnow is an American Emmy-Award-Winning Meteorologist/Entrepreneur/CEO working for KRON4 News in San Francisco Bay Area serving the station as a Chief Meteorologist a role he has undertaken since June 2015. He also works as an entrepreneur and CEO at WeatherScope. Karnow has been working with the KRON4 News team since January 2018.

Karnow works for KRON4 News, serving the station as a Chief Meteorologist. He joined the station working with the weekend news team. Prior to KRON4 News, he was working with KPIX CBS5 in San Francisco Bay Area. He served the station as a Weekend Meteorologist and Weekday Morning News anchor between April 1997 and June 2015.
In the course of his journalism career, he has been privileged to receive an Emmy Award for Best Weather Anchor for his morning-long coverage of the March 2011 tsunami. This was as it hit the Bay Area after Japan’s massive earthquake. Asides from his journalism career, he also worked as a substitute teacher. While working for KPIX News, he was frequently visiting schools to give the students a lesson about the weather, then feature them in his live weather segment on the noon news.
Previously, he has also worked with KSBW TV in the Salinas, California Area. There, he served the station as a Weekend Meteorologist Meteorologist before moving to weekday morning newscasts. There, he served the station between 1986 and 1997.
During his time at KSBW-TV, he reported on Central Coast Agricultural stories. He states that the weather has been his passion for as much as he can remember. While he was in elementary school, he saw lightning strike a garbage can outside his home one night. It is at that moment that he knew he wanted to be a meteorologist.
He is a proud graduate of UCLA and is a certified meteorologist with the American Meteorological Society. There, he received the AMS Seal of Approval. He created his own app in the year 2015 so users could stay connected to different parts of the world. The duo met while working for KSBW News. They, later on, ended up working for the same station in San Francisco Bay Area, KPIX News. Karnow joined the station in April 1997 and found Chin there. They later tied knots in early 1998 in San Francisco.
