Lee Southwick is an American journalist working for WDSU-TV serving as a meteorologist. She has been working with the station since August 2021.

She joined WDSU just one week before Hurricane Ida made landfall, Lee jumped right into Southeast Louisiana’s weather and hasn’t looked back since. Through all the tropical weather, sunny, fun days, severe weather, and she is truly grateful to call New Orleans home. Additionally, lee has experienced her fair share of tropical weather.
When she was evacuated to New Orleans from Hurricane Frances that she realized she wanted to become a meteorologist. Prior to joining WDSU, she worked at an NBC affiliate in Montgomery, Alabama. Where she covered countless tropical systems, including Sally, Zeta, Delta, and hurricanes Michael.
Moreover, Lee also covered several tornado outbreaks and wind events during her time there. In addition to that, she won a Murrow Award and was Emmy nominated with her team for their coverage of the deadly EF-4 Lee County Tornado. Furthermore, Southwick graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and earned a Master of Science from Mississippi State University.
While still in college, she covered hurricanes Irma, Hermine, and Matthew as part of the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network, WUFT, and WRUF. In her leisure time, she enjoys watching football and being on or in the water – SCUBA diving and paddle boarding are some of her favorite hobbies.
