One of her most unforgettable stories was that of Antonio Reese, a boy who was haphazardly shot in the head while he was riding with his family. Following the shooting, he had a brain injury and recuperated for months. After the story was broadcast, a LEX18 client saw it and bought the family a van, enabling them to go to Antonio’s many doctor appointments. Additionally, the public collected money to purchase the family a service dog. These acts of kindness helped reclaim the family’s faith in society.
Searcy is grateful to tell and share people’s stories. She had made it her goal to do accurate, fair, and compassionate journalism. Moreover, she enjoys the competitiveness, meeting people and animals, and getting to broadcast different things every day that come with her job.
