Malini Basu Biography
Malini Basu is an American three-time Emmy award-winning reporter who is working at WFAA in Dallas. She joined the station in April 2021.

Previously, she worked at the FOX affiliate in Boston where she worked for a period of six years. While she worked at Boston 25 News, she won three Emmy awards including; one for a story about the Massachusetts State Police, which resulted in a colonel stepping down.
In addition, she traveled to El Salvador which is the world’s most dangerous gang prison where she did interviews with convicted gang members from their jail cells. She also covered major trials such as the Boston Marathon bomber and Aaron Hernandez. Furthermore, assisted a family from Bangladesh in navigating a language barrier to get to the United States to see their dying son on life support during the pandemic.
Furthermore, she also spent day after day in Chelsea, Massachusetts. She also assisted struggling families who were forced out of their homes. Her outstanding work has received recognition a number of times from the governor, and state senators. Before she joined Boston 25 News, she covered a number of major breaking news stories at KHOU where she worked for three years.
In addition, she won an award in excellence for news gathering and breaking news in 2014. Basu played an important role in the safe return of a 13-year-old girl who was kidnapped and taken near the Mexican Border. Before that, she worked at the ABC affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island for a period of four and a half years. Furthermore, she began her career in Plattsburgh, New York, near the Canadian border. When coming to her education, Basu attended St. John’s University where she proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
