After finishing high school, Marissa joined the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2014 where she graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising. During her time at college, she worked as a morning anchor where she hosted a show called “Good Morning Illini.” She also conducted interviews with Head Coach Lovie Smith and served as a football reporter.

While there, she covered the Mississippi River broke in downtown Davenport and the 2019 flood. She worked for the station for two years and four months from July 2018 to October 2020.
Earlier, Marissa served as a reporter at Fighting Illini Productions from August 2017 to June 2018. She also conducted weekly interviews with the UIUC football team, athletics, and players. Before working at Fighting Illini Productions, Sulek worked in Urbana-Champaign as a sideline reporter at Big Ten Network Student U. During her time there, she was in charge of editing videos, shooting, and conducting research.
Marissa began her career at Good Morning Illini working as a morning news anchor from March 2017 to May 2018. Throughout her career, she covered multiple news including the deadly killing of 20 people in Waverly’s deadly flash floods and the Covenant School shooting that killed six innocent people. Sulek also explored the Tennessee State Representative’s secretary who was charged with bribery and fraud.
Apart from working as a journalist, Marissa served as a Panhellenic Council president at the University of Illinois Panhellenic Council. While there, she also worked for Starcom as a strategy and investment intern from June 2017 to August 2017. Earlier, Sulek worked as a customer service intern and sales at Entertainment Cruises From May 2016 to June 2016. After that, she worked for three months as a contact center team leader intern.
