After graduating from high school and earning her Diploma in General Education, she had to further her education. She joined Loyola Marymount University in 1989 to pursue her course. In 1991, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication and Media Studies. She also joined Mississippi State University in 2000 to further her education. In 2003, she obtained a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology.

Loos is is an award-winning reporter, anchor, and meteorologist at KOIN 6 in Portland, Oregon. Her journalism career began at 15 years old, writing for her hometown newspaper, “The Huntington Beach News.” During that time, she covered the local surf scene, touring bands like U2 and David Bowie, local celebrities, as well as news of the week. In the course of her time in college, she transitioned to radio news and became a DJ in Southern California.

Prior to joining the KOIN 6 weather team, she worked for KATU-TV in Portland, Oregon. During her working time there, she served the station as a meteorologist, reporter, and anchor for 9 years and 5 months. Before that, she worked at KPAM – AM 860. During her working time there, she served as a news anchor for nine months from June 2013 to February 2013. From there, after bouncing around Southern California for a few years, she finds her calling as an on-camera meteorologist in San Diego.

In addition to that, she logged some hours in the pilot’s seat as an airborne traffic reporter. Loos moved on in search of real weather as a TV meteorologist at KBCI (Boise, ID) and WBIR (Knoxville, TN) after deciding “light today, dark tonight” was NOT a forecasting challenge. From there, she headed to Seattle and spent three years at KING 5 and NWCN. While working for 1190 KEX radio as a morning anchor for four years, she covered multiple stories.

She also worked as a meteorologist and field reporter and covered every kind of weather event, from “thundersnow,” to deadly tornado outbreaks, and ice storms. Loos was responsible for writing, producing, and presenting daily newscasts on-air. She is happy to be part of the KOIN 6 Weather Team and calling Portland home. During her leisure time, she likes spending time with her two Miniature Schnauzers, cooking, and also international travel.
