Matt Hoenig Biography
Matt Hoenig is an American meteorologist who has worked for WMUR as a weekend meteorologist since joining the station in July 2022 until his departure in 2026. After spending nearly four years at the station, he announced on June 9, 2026, that he had decided to step away from TV broadcasting for a new adventure outside of TV broadcasting.

Hoenig’s most unforgettable weather event was in July 2012, when he was vacationing with his family on a lake in New Hampshire. They watched a line of severe thunderstorms roll in across the lake, and a quick spin-up tornado made landfall on the lake. It came ashore probably just 100 yards from where they stayed and dissipated in the woods across the road.
Hoenig’s interest in meteorology can be traced back as early as pre-school. Growing up in New England, Hoenig always had a fascination with the big winter storms and blizzards during winter. To this day, snow is still his favorite weather, with thunderstorms coming in at a close second. On the other hand, his least favorite type of weather is cold rain, which literally puts him in a bad mood!
