Megan Smedley is an American multimedia journalist and anchor working at 11Alive in Atlanta, Georgia as a sports producer. She joined the station in January 2022. Before joining 11Alive, she worked for WNDU-TV where she serves as a sports multimedia journalist. She joined WNDU-TV in June 2018 and departed in December 2021. Before that, she served at NBC Sports Washington.
Smedley earned a Broadcast Journalism degree from the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Megan has worked for Capital News Service, the university’s award-winning student-run station, as an anchor, reporter, and producer while she studied at the University of Maryland. In addition, she also reported from Washington, D.C., the Maryland State House, and all over the state. In 2018, she won the Gracie Award for On-Air Talent in the Television Local Student category for her work at Maryland.
Furthermore, she has also worked at WMUC Sports which is the on-campus student radio station where she served as the director. While she worked at WMUC, she covered athletics for the University of Maryland and attended Big Ten and NCAA tournaments. Later on, she interned at both NBC Washington and NBC Sports Washington and secured a job as a production assistant at the two stations.
In addition, she has a number of strange sports allegiances, however, she always supports the majority of Philly teams, such as the Terps, the Boston Red Sox, and the New York Giants. During her downtime, she enjoys drinking far too much Diet Coke for her own good and watching embarrassing reality television. She is excited to visit the Michiana area, particularly any town on Lake Michigan.
