Olivia Young Biography

Olivia Young is an American Multimedia Journalist working for CBS4 News/KNCN-TV in Denver, Colorado where she serves the station as a Multimedia Journalist. She has been working with the station since August 2022.

Young attended Douglas County High School. She is a proud graduate of Chapman University where she was studying broadcast journalism and peace studies. Young graduated in the month of May 2020. There, she was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. While in the university, she was a reporter and anchor for Chapman News, where she produced a groundbreaking investigative report, “Secrets of Shambhala,” which unveiled allegations of sexual harassment on a Chapman travel course.

Her reporting also led to the course’s cancellation and it won the 2020 Student Murrow Award for Excellence in Video Reporting. Young has also been privileged to study abroad in Cannes, France for a semester and is fluent in French. She is excited to get to know the community.

Prior to CBS4 News, she was working with KVAL/KMTR in Eugene, Oregon. She states that her most memorable interview was the interview with resilient survivors of the 2020 Holiday Farm Fire. Young states that many of these people lost everything they had but their positivity and commitment to rebuilding are inspiring. Her hidden talent is that she can speed eat and states that she is the reigning Hotdog Eating champ at her old station.

She states that her favorite food is Brie and her favorite musician is a Doja Cat and his favorite sports team is Broncos and Oregon Ducks. Her favorite vacation spot is anywhere in Greece and one word that best describes CBS News Colorado is truth-seeking. Young’s favorite noise is the ocean and her least favorite noise is his alarm clock. Young states that what keeps her in Colorado is the sunshine, the people, and the mountains.

Young is a Multimedia Journalist at KMTR/KVAL. Here, she has covered stories such as the 2020 Olympic Trials, the WOW hall mass shooting, and the devastating Holiday Farm Fire. She is happy to be in Oregon after growing up in Colorado.

Young gained experience in the news industry by interning at NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Dateline NBC, and NBC Los Angeles, where she worked with legendary political reporter Conan Nolan. There, she was working with a legendary political reporter, Conan Nolan.

Olivia enjoys cooking, exploring and trying new restaurants, traveling, exploring Colorado’s many mountain towns, watching scary movies, running, and going to the beach in her spare time. She also enjoys traveling. She spent a semester abroad in Cannes, France, and is fluent (ish) in French.
