He comes home to North Dakota after spending about 20 years of life-based in Long Beach, California. Despite the fact that he has never lived in North Dakota, the allure of being close to his family and a simpler way won his heart. He moved to North Dakota in the year 2019 and says that North Dakota could not be more opposite to the life he lived in Southern California. Fortunately, for him, he finds the contras to be refreshing and opportunistic.
Asides from journalism, he is a career musician. He began his career in music as a trumpet player in his youth before joining The Young Americans(YA’s) performing arts organization when he was 18. Michael later moved on his own from New Mexico to California. He had spent about four years traveling with the Young Americans while performing and promoting the joy of music in schools and theaters all around the globe.
Cartwright is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California where he graduated from the Thorton School of Music in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree. In the years, he has made a name for himself as a successful bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, and entertainer. He continues to travel and perform as the leader of Project M, a variety dance band under the management of Elan Artists. He is now a member of the KX Family and is excited and ambitious to co-host Studio 701.
