Mika Miyashima Biography

Mika Miyashima is an American anchor/reporter working for KITV4 as an evening co-anchor at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm a position she took up in July 2019. She joined KITV4 in November 2016, as a news reporter and weekend weather anchor.

Prior to Miyashima joining KITV4, she worked at ABC7 News in Los Angeles where she served as a news assistant in the production of traffic reports and overall show production. Los Angeles, California is her birth home and later on, she was brought up in Sandy, Utah where she was a violinist and multi-sport athlete.

In 2009, she joined the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies in 2012. While she was still studying at the University of Hawaii, she interned with the KITV sports team where she covered football and basketball games.

After she had graduated, she worked for TMZ Sports in Los Angeles as an assistant producer and while she was there, she gained an interest in sharing stories with the community. She is also a member of the Asian American Journalist Association and is from a family of talented performers.

During her leisure time, she enjoys travel and adventure, and other the years, she has explored not less than twenty different countries, inclusive of service trips to India and Peru and to work with children and the critically ill.  These experiences taught her the need to give back to the community even the smallest gestures can move mountains. During her free time, she can also be found relaxing on the beach, working at the gym, hiking, and spending ample time with her relatives here on the Island and back home in Utah.
