Mike Cronin Biography
Mike Cronin is an American journalist working for WMUR as the sports director since he was promoted in June 2022. He joined the station in December 2014 as a sports/news anchor and reporter. Previously, he worked as a reporter at Charter TV3 in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Mike Cronin Education
Cronin joined Bryant University in 2007 after finishing his education at Central Catholic High School. In 2011, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. In 2009, she studied abroad at Griffith University in Australia.
While in college, he anchored for Bryant News Broadcast, Bryant’s TV news show. Also, he led a weekly sports talk show on 88.7 WJMF, Bryant’s radio station. Moreover, he was a public address announcer for multiple Bryant sports and a sports writer for The Archway, the school newspaper.

Upon joining the station, he initially worked as a sports/news anchor and reporter. Over the next eight years, he was a weekend anchor, reporter, and fill-in sports anchor. On weekends, he reported and co-anchored the 5 to 6:30 pm newscast. During the week, he covered a wide range of stories in New Hampshire and went live each night during the 4/5/6/7:30/10/11 p.m. broadcasts.
During his career, Cronin has broadcast two New Hampshire presidential primaries. He has also interviewed various presidential candidates and filed reports from campaign rallies and events. He has also covered general assignment news from every corner of the state, including extensively reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic and the Clinton Correctional Facility escape in 2015 from Dannemora in 2015. He was there when the second prisoner was apprehended.
Cronin earned an Edward R. Murrow award for his New Hampshire Chronicle story on NHL official Brian Murphy’s retirement from the league in 2020. He has always had a passion for sports and has broadcast a Stanley Cup Final, a World Series, an NBA Finals, multiple playoff runs for the Patriots, and championship parades.

Cronin has filed reports from several NASCAR Sprint Cup Races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Before working for WMUR, he reported at Charter TV3 in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was also a freelance reporter at NECN in Newton, Massachusetts. He launched his reporting career at KFBB in Helena, Montana. There, he covered news and politics as the station’s Capital Reporter.
