Mike Nicco Biography

Mike Nicco is an American meteorologist working for KCTV as a meteorologist since joining the station in 2025. Previously, he worked as the chief meteorologist for KSHB 41 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mike Nicco Education

Nicco joined the University of Kansas after finishing his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology. While in college, he spearheaded the Atmospheric Science Club.

Nicco works for KCTV as a meteorologist. He loves the weather and assisting others, a quality he inherited from his mom and dad. His love and respect for the weather runs deep, coming from his maternal family that settled in Kansas way back in the 1800s. Though his career has taken him to diverse cities across the nation, his roots and ties to Kansas City have remained strong. He is beyond excited to come full circle in life’s journey and live in Kansas City.

Nicco previously worked as the chief meteorologist for KSHB 41 in Kansas City, Missouri. Before moving to the Kansas City market, he spent 15 years at KGO-TV ABC7 in San Francisco, where he was a morning and dayside meteorologist. He also worked as a weekend meteorologist at KMSP FOX 9 in Minneapolis, a morning meteorologist at WBTV in Charlotte, and a morning meteorologist at KARK 4 in Little Rock.

Nicco has broadcast various meteorological events, including blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes, severe storms, ice storms, droughts, earthquakes, and raging wildfires. He is skilled in simplifying intricate weather systems into everyday, useful information that the community wants and needs.

Aside from his meteorology expertise, Nicco is deeply devoted to giving back to the community. He has given many hours to the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause close to his heart, in honor of his Mother-in-Law. He also empathizes with animals, supporting multiple organizations that work to find loving, forever homes for pets and the science of equine therapy.
