Moses Small Biography

Moses Small is an American multimedia journalist working at KGTV-TV where he serves as a weekday and weekend anchor and reporter. He joined KGTV-TV in July 2022, after previously working at KGET-TV as a news anchor/reporter from July 2020 to July 2022. Before that, she worked for NBC News in Los Angeles, California.

Birmingham, Alabama is his birth home and later on, he was brought up in Portland, Maine. He attended Emerson College in Boston where he graduated with Honors in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Global and Post-Colonial Studies. He connected to storytelling from a young age as he was an adopted African American brought up in a white family. To connect to his Kenyan heritage, he listened to stories throughout his childhood and he got to travel to Nairobi, Kenya in 2018, where he met his biological family.

In addition, Small interned at ABC WCVB-TV 5 in Needham, Massachusetts, and at Dateline NBC in Los Angeles before his dream to reside in California came true. He began his career in Bakersfield, California where he worked as a weekend anchor and reporter at KGET-17 News.

Over the years, he has enjoyed a range of stories, from deep diving into Bakersfield’s Sikh-Punjabi community to breaking wildfire coverage. For his anchoring, forecasting, and production, he was nominated for an Emmy in 2021. During his leisure time, he enjoys playing with his two kittens he is an animal lover and musician as he recently ventured into studio engineering and electronic music production.
