Neil Cavuto Biography

Neil Cavuto is an American anchor/reporter and commentator working for both FOX News Channel (FNC) and FOX Business Network (FBN). He has been working for the station since joining in 1996.

Cavuto attended Immaculate High School in Connecticut. At 17, while completing high school, he became the manager of a fish and chips restaurant. During the Carter Administration, he served as a White House intern. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass media from St. Bonaventure University in 1980 and received a master’s degree from American University.

He is the FNC’s CAVUTO Live (Saturdays 10 AM-12 PM/ET), the anchor of FNC’s Your World with Neil Cavuto (weekdays 4-5 PM/ET), and FBN’s Cavuto: Coast to Coast (weekdays 12-2 PM/ET). In addition to breaking news and anchoring daily programs on FBN and FNC, he also leads special events coverage for FBN and oversees business news content for both networks.

He recently made contributions to enclosing the Russian invasion of Ukraine and a special edition of CAVUTO Live dedicated to the breaking news. He also hosted a town hall on his FBN program Cavuto: Coast to Coast entitled Inflation In America. 

Since he joined FBN in 2007, he has led all of the station’s election coverage in 2007, including the 2020 marathon election night special report. In 2018, he enclosed the FBN’s 2016 election which was also the station’s highest-rated. In 2015, he moderated FBN’s inaugural Republican presidential primary debate alongside Maria Bartiromo.

Cavuto previously worked for CNBC where he served as an anchor and host of the network’s highest-rated show, Market Wrap. He also worked for NBC where he was a contributor to NBC News at Sunrise and NBC’s Today Show. Prior to this, he previously worked for PBS Television where he served as the New York Bureau Chief for the Washington Bureau Chief for Investment Age Magazine and the network’s Nightly Business Report.

Ever since he started his journalism career, he has managed to enclose important political and business including the 2008 financial meltdown. He also enclosed the September 11, 2001 attacks, Persian Gulf Wars, and the 1987 stock market crash.  Furthermore, he also enclosed major corporate scandals from Enron to Tyco and interviewed former Tyco Chief Executive Dennis Kozlowski was a business television first.

Cavuto was also tagged “best interviewer in broadcast business news,” by The Wall Street Journal. He was also named “the very soul” of the FOX Business Network by MarketWatch. He was also named “the best interviewer on TV, period” by Financial author James Glassman. Furthermore, he was also named “Most Impactful TV Newser of the Past 15 Years” by ADWEEK in January 2019.
