Nick Kelly Biography
Nick Kelly is an American meteorologist working for KSPR as a meteorologist since joining the station in July 2022. Previously, he worked as a meteorologist at KOAM in Joplin, Missouri for over a decade.
Nick Kelly Education
Kelly joined the University of Missouri in 2006 when he finished his high school education. In 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology. While in college, he was a part of the Mizzou Storm Chase Team launched at KOMU in 2008. In the summer of 2009, he worked as an intern at KPLR.

Kelly works for KSPR as a meteorologist. He is familiar with the region having visited Branson for family vacations and having friends and family living in parts of the Ozarks. At the age of 3, he was amazed by his first ice cream, and when he was 8, he saw his first funnel cloud. These experiences sparked his passion for the weather.
After graduating college, Kelly went to Joplin where he served KOAM for nearly 11 years. Some of the memorable events he broadcasted in Joplin include the Good Friday 2011 storm that eventually dropped tornadoes around the St. Louis region, the 2012 summer heat wave, the 2015 flooding after Christmas, and the harsh weather in late May 2019 that brought a tornado through Carl Junction and Golden City in Missouri.
In Joplin, Kelly received the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal Of Approval from the American Society Of Meteorologists in 2015. Additionally, he filled in for the chief meteorologist during the evening shows and the AM show when necessary.
