Lisa Rose Career
Rose works for KSPR as an evening news anchor at 6 & 10 p.m. on ky3 and at 9 on Ozarks CW. She has always loved the news and can recall reading the newspaper when she was in the 3rd grade. By the time she was 10, she would anxiously watch TV News reports from the war in Vietnam. In high school, she was obsessed with learning as much as she could about the current affairs in the world. Her first job when she was 17 was at the A&W at the Battlefield Mall, in Springfield.
After graduating college, Rose kickstarted her career at KODE in Joplin, Missouri. There, she started as a general assignment TV news reporter and anchored the 5-minute “local cut-in” newscasts during Good Morning America.” She continued with her reporting work and started co-anchoring the evening newscasts. She worked in Joplin for 4 years before joining KSPR KY3 in 1984.
KSPR
Rose works for KSPR as an evening news anchor at 6 & 10 p.m. on ky3 and at 9 on Ozarks CW. Even though she has been anchoring in the region for over 4 decades, she still enjoys her work and sharing current world affairs and local stories. In June 2023, she was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Mid-America Chapter Silver Circle.
Upon joining the KSPR, she started as an evening anchor but spent most of her time in the field as a general assignment reporter. In this role, she went everywhere on assignments including Green Forest, Arkansas, environmental issues to Atlanta, and for the 1988 Democratic National Convention.
The 1988 convention broadcast served as the first time local TV stations united since mobile satellite trucks had become an advanced tool, giving news reporters the facility to go live from anywhere in the nation. Before that, they used to stay close to the station and tower due to technology limitations. More change came with the advancing of technology, enabling reporters to have a backpack that helped them to go live from the middle of nowhere.
Rose wanted to work for bigger TV stations in bigger cities like most TV news reporters as she continued her career. However, KY3 made her stay in the region since it was the station she grew up watching and it led the curve in broadcast news from technology to techniques in news gathering. Thus, she didn’t have to move to find the best resources available for news collection.
