Paula Sands is an American anchor working for KWQC-TV6 where she serves as an anchor from Monday to Thursday at 3 pm on the Live Variety talk show. She joined the KWQC-TV6 team on August 24, 1982, as the co-host of PM Magazine.
This year Paula is celebrating her 40th year at KWQC! A native Quad Citian, she began her television career here on August 24, 1982, as co-host of PM Magazine which was a nationwide pioneer of the lifestyle program format still popular today. The PM Magazine had 90+ affiliates across the country, including KWQC in the 1980s. By the time she was 23 years old, she was the youngest PM Magazine co-host in the country. In addition, she later became the host of 5PMLive which was later transitioned into the show bearing her name.
On August 31, 1993, Paula Sands Live debuted and she was awarded an Emmy award in addition to being inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle in 2015. While she worked at WQUA Radio where she wrote and voiced commercials, she met her husband David who was a production manager. During her leisure time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and they have hosted more than a dozen Holiday Vacation tours for the station.
