Rhondella Richardson is a well-reputed American Emmy Award-winning Journalist working for WCVB NewsCentre 5’s weekend morning newscasts as the co-anchor. She joined the station in September 1996. Previously, Boston Magazine named her one of “The 50 Most Intriguing Women in Boston”. Also, she has been graced on the cover of the Northeastern University alumni magazine and was the first honoree of the University’s “Medallion Award”. The award recognizes alumni committed to the community while also making great professional strides. Rhondella remains an active member of the University’s Board.
In her effort to continuously serve the community on and off camera, she has emceed the tribute day honoring tennis commentator Bud Collins at the Sportsmen’s Tennis Club, prior to his passing. Also, she has emceed Bopston’s annual “Duckling Day” Mother’s Day festivities and parade for over a decade, sponsored by the Friends of the Public Garden and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department. In 1994 while at KING-TV, she was a contributing reporter on “The Today Show” and during a week international reporting assignment to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam she produced a three-part series called Capitalism vs Communism. From 1992 to 1994 while at WJAR-TV, she was involved in the station’s “Tuesday’s Child” segments and appeared on the soap opera “Another World” in a dancing scene. In 1990, she was the recipient of WCVB’s Leo Beranek Fellowship which brought her to NewsCemntre 5 as a freelance news assistant. It was at WCVB, where she officially launched her broadcasting career as an intern for CityLine, WCVB’s urban news program in 1986. Since January 2018, she has been a Travel writer, Freelance for P.R. Associates.
