Roland Martin is an American anchor, host, contributor, and reporter working at CNN serving as a contributor. He has been working for the station since joining in February 2007.

Martin is an anchor, host, contributor, and reporter working at CNN. Prior to his tenure at CNN, he had previously worked for MSNBC, Court TV, and a ton of other stations. Prior to joining CNN, he previously worked at WVON/1690AM where he served as the host of The Roland S. Martin Show in Chicago.
Martin is also the former founding member of BlackAmericaWeb.com which is owned by nationally syndicated radio host Tom Joyner as well as Radio One. Prior to that, he previously worked for Dallas-Fort Worth Heritage where he served as a publisher/owner of the Christian monthly newspaper. Martin also served as the managing editor of the Dallas Weekly and the Houston Defender.
Martin also spent several years working at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, KRLD/1080AM, the Austin American-Statesman, and KKDA-AM in Dallas. In addition to that, he is also an active member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the American Society of Newspaper Editors.
Martin has also managed to win a ton of awards ever since he started his journalism carer. For instance, he has been awarded several first-place awards from the Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Black Communicators; a regional Edward R. Murrow award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association; and honors from the Houston Press Club. He was also awarded the top sports reporting award in 1997 by the National Association of Black Journalists. He holds a B.S. in journalism from Texas A&M University as well as a master’s degree in Christian Communications from Louisiana Baptist University.
