Ross Palombo is an American journalist working for KCAL CBS LA as an anchor and senior reporter since joining the station in March 2022. Previously, he served WPLG in Washington D.C. as a white house correspondent and DC bureau chief for 4 years.

Palombo was present inside the Capitol during the January 6th, 2021, attack. Also, he provided reports from ground zero of the COVID-19 disaster, broadcasted the Russia investigation, and provided reports about the election and inauguration of President Joe Biden. In 2018, he won an Emmy for broadcasting the political response to the Stoneman Douglass Massacre.
Previously, he served KTVU in San Francisco as a political analyst, evening anchor, and chief investigative reporter. During his time there, he broadcasted the race for the White House and the campaign trail in 2016, the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, the Iowa Caucuses, and the swearing-in of the 45th president.
Palombo did investigations in California that exposed a jail healthcare problem involving deceased and injured inmates, a statewide traffic crisis, and a big financial scandal in public transportation. Due to his reports, better healthcare and huge settlements were made, there was a big change in California road construction, and new public pay policies and rules were implemented. He won two Murrow Awards for his investigative reports and three Emmys.
Before working in San Francisco, he gained national attention for his investigative reports in Miami, Florida. For his work in Miami, he won nine Emmy Awards. Also, he worked as a lead reporter where he broadcasted many tropical storms and hurricanes, including Hurricane Sandy. He went to various big stories such as the Ferguson Unrest, the Baltimore Riots, the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting, and the Supreme Court conclusion on gay nuptials. He served as the first journalist to provide live coverage of the first gay marriage moments after its legalization.
Before Miami, he served CBS News where he made a name for himself by covering LGBTQ+ issues for CBS News. During his time at New York’s network headquarters, he worked as an anchor for the Up to the Minute, CBS Morning News, and the overnight news. Also, he provided reports from Wall Street for MoneyWatch. He traveled across the state reporting on various big stories like the passage of Proposition 8 in California and the Financial Crisis of 2008.
Before CBS News, he served the CBS station in San Antonio, Texas, KENS. Prior to that, he worked as a reporter for KCBS and KCAL. Aside from his work for CBS, he has worked as an anchor, broadcasted politics, and held investigative duties at KRON in San Francisco, KNXV in Phoenix, and WHBQ in Memphis.
His journalism career began when he received his degree from college. He has worked as an active member of IRE, NLGJA, and the White House Correspondents’ Association. Also, he serves on the board of governors of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
