Sheba Turk is an American Anchor/Reporter working for KCAL-TV News serving the station as a Weekend morning anchor & community reporter. Prior to this, she was working for WWL-TV in New Orleans where she serves the station as a Morning News Anchor and Reporter since August 2013. Prior to that, she was serving the same station as a Reporter between April 2013 and August 2013, and as a Traffic Reporter between May 2012 and April 2013. She kick-started her career with the station working as an Associate Producer for the Morning News a role she held between August 2011 and May 2012. 

Sheba Turk Education

She attended St Mary’s Dominican High School. In high school, Sheba was a member of the school’s musical theater and she loved writing. After high school, Sheba joined NYU before transferring to the University of New Orleans for her B.A. in English and a minor in journalism. It is her love for writing that led her to the world of journalism. She graduated from the University with the aid of Soledad O’Brien’s Starfish Foundation scholarship.

Turk works for KCAL News serving the station as a Weekend morning anchor & community reporter. Prior to this, she was working with WWL-TV where she serves the station as a co-anchor for the Eyewitness Morning News in New Orleans.

Prior to that, she was serving the same station as a Reporter between April 2013 and August 2013, and as a Traffic Reporter between May 2012 and April 2013. She kick-started her career with the station working as an Associate Producer for the Morning News a role she held between August 2011 and May 2012.

She has always had great joy and pride in musical theater. She states that she missed doing theater but it is funny that he still ended up being part of a live show. Turk states that in many ways TV and theater are similar. After high school, she spent the first half of her career studying creative writing at NYU but later came back home for financial reasons.

September of the year 2011 saw her join WWL-TV after a few months after her graduation where she was serving the station as a morning news associate producer. She states that she never imagined she would have had a chance to be a reporter at WWL-TV that early in her career. It is still a bit surreal to be a part of the show which defines morning for many people in New Orleans.

While she was working for the station as a Traffic Reporter, she spent her extra time working on some new stories. Asides from that, when Hurricane Isaac hit in the year 2012, she volunteered to help with storm coverage. It was not long after that she was promoted to the position of morning show reporter where she was doing live shorts for the morning news.

A year later, an opportunity knocked again. She took then took the morning anchor vacant position. She was promoted to be one of the co-anchors for the morning show. There, she anchors the news alongside Eric, Sally, and Mike which is special for her.

She states that she remembers watching them before school in the morning when she was in college. Additionally, she explains that she never imagined she would sit beside them only a few years later. Turk further explains that they have all been extremely supportive of her career and have learned a lot from all of them.

Asides from that, she was also given the opportunity to host “The 04.” It was also a rare opportunity because the show was brand new and so it didn’t even really have an identity. She really got to execute her vision. Asides from that she turned the show into an entertainment and lifestyle program that features local personalities weighing in on topics that everyone is talking about. Away from work, she can be found at one of the city’s amazing Asian restaurants. She also loves spending time with her dogs.
