Ryan Canaday Biography

Ryan Canaday is an American Reporter working with KTVN Channel 2 News serving the station as a General Assignment Reporter and Fill-in Anchor. He has been working with the Channel 2 News team since the year 2014.

He grew up in Henderson and went to Green Valley High School. Canaday graduated from high school with honors and went on to study at the University of Nevada, Reno. Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism in May 2014, with the goal of pursuing a career in broadcast journalism. Canaday landed a part-time job at KTVN one month after graduating.

Canaday works with KTVN-TV where he serves the station as a General Assignment Reporter and Fill-in Anchor. Despite being born in Riverside, California he very much considers himself a Nevada. He moved to Henderson at age 7 and spent the rest of his childhood there. He is a proud graduate of Green Valley High School with high honors before continuing his education at the University of Nevada, Reno.

After moving to Reno in 2010, he has truly planted his roots here. Since joining KTVN-TV, he has continually moved up the ranks. He has served as a full-time weekend video journalist, a weekday general assignment reporter, and a weekend anchor/reporter. He is now anchoring the evening newscasts every weekday and producing the segment “Your 2 Cents” nightly at 4:25 and 6:55.

By becoming an anchor at KTVN, he has been able to fulfill a longtime dream of his. Since he was a young man, he knew he wanted to be on the news. Now that he has earned his opportunity to show people the work he can do, he only intends to move forward in his career. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves being outdoors at Lake Tahoe. Among his greatest role models are his parents and grandparents.
