She began her journalism career in Casper, Wyoming where she worked as a sports reporter covering everything from 6-man football to athletics at the University of Wyoming. After working for two years in Wyoming, she relocated to Duluth, Minnesota where she served as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter. After two months of working in Duluth, Samantha was promoted to the weekday morning and noon anchor.
Michigan is her native home and in 2015, she joined Michigan State University where she graduated in 2019, with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism. Basirico is a die-hard Detroit sport and a Spartan fan. During her spare time, she enjoys cooking new recipes and spending time with family and friends including her 4-year-old Black Lab Leo, who she adopted in Wyoming.
