Savanna Brito Biography
Savanna Brito is an American meteorologist working for WTVO as a weekday meteorologist. She joined WTVO in April 2022, after previously working at WTWO where she was the weekday morning and noon meteorologist.
Northern Illinois is her native home and in 2016, she joined Valparaiso University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in communications in December 2019. She enjoys learning about all types of weather that take place across the United States however, she enjoys forecasting severe weather more. While she attended Valparaiso University, she served as a forecaster for the universities television station, Valparaiso University Television.
In addition, after she graduated, she started her first post-college job at WIFR in Rockford, Illinois in January 2020 where she served as a producer and multimedia journalist. Later on, she joined WTWO/WAWV in Terre Haute, Indiana where she served as a weekday morning and noon meteorologist before she left the station in September 2020.
Furthermore, while Brito worked at WTWO, she tracked an EF2 tornado live on the air during the December 10-11 2021 outbreak and covered two 8” snowstorms. She also had the opportunity to visit many schools sharing her passion for weather with students of the Wabash Valley. She first interned at WHBF in the Quad Cities where she worked alongside Andy McCray who was the chief meteorologist.
When Savanna was 6 years old, she saw her first funnel cloud and dreamt of being a broadcast meteorologist. While she was in college, she was actively involved in fitness and held many roles at the campus fitness center. Savanna started out as a Desk Attendant and quickly claimed up the ladder to becoming a Building Manager.
During her senior year of high school, she was a teacher’s Assistant and one of her memorable moments was teaching the 5th-grade students about the weather and doing science experiments together with them. Whenever she is free, she enjoys working out at the gym, spending ample time with her family and friends, traveling, and cheering on the Chicago Bulls and Bears.
