Sergio Puente Biography

Sergio Puente is an American meteorologist working for KRGV as an English and Spanish meteorologist since he was promoted in November 2018. He joined the station in March 2016 after working as a photojournalist and weather producer. Previously, he served UTRGV University Recreation as an event specialist.

Puente joined the University of Texas-Pan American in 2011 after finishing his studies at Edinburg High School. In 2015, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication-Broadcast Journalism. There, he worked as a facility manager for UTPA Wellness & Recreation Sports. He then joined Mississippi State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences in 2021. He was a trumpeter for the mighty bobcat band while in high school.
