Chris Franklin Biography
Chris Franklin is an American meteorologist working at WWL where he serves as a chief meteorologist a position he took up in November 2019. He also serves as a noon and weekend morning meteorologist at the station. He joined WWL-TV in New Orleans in June 2016.
Chris Franklin Education
In 1996, Franklin joined Brother Martin High School where he graduated in 2000. Later on, he attended the University of New Orleans where he graduated proudly. In 2002, he joined the University of South Alabama where he earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology in 2004.
Chris Franklin Career
Franklin works at WWL-TV in New Orleans where he serves as a chief meteorologist a position he took up in November 2019. Metairie is Chris’ native home and he graduated from the University of South Alabama. For his academics and involvement in the meteorology program, he received the Senior Meteorology Award.
Franklin also holds an AMS Television Seal of Approval and he started his broadcast career in Topeka, Kansas where he serves as a meteorologist for a year, later on, he relocated to New Orleans where he arrived just before Hurricane Katrina struck the coast.
Over the years, he has covered a number of major weather events such as; the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Hurricanes Katrina, the Mississippi River flooding in 2011, Rita, Gustav, Ike, and the 2014 ice storm. In addition, he has also had the opportunity to interview a number of celebrities such as Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and he was featured on FOX News Channel and the Weather Channel.
Furthermore, he has served as a weather forecasting for more than a decade in New Orleans. Franklin has received a number of awards from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters and the Press Club of New Orleans. On often occasions, he has served as a guest speaker.
