Payton Malone Biography
Payton Malone is an American Meteorologist working with WWL-TV in New Orleans where he serves the station as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist. He has been working with the station since September 2019.
Payton Malone Education
In 2010, he enrolled at Vernon College and graduated in 2012. Payton enrolled at the University of Oklahoma that same year to pursue a degree. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography with a minor in Meteorology from the same university in 2017.

Malone works with WWL-TV where he serves the station as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist since September 2019. He has been working on WWL-TV for about two years and was previously working with WXXV-TV based in Gulfport. Malone knew he wanted to be a meteorologist from the very young age of six years old.
He remembers growing up and being glued to the TV as he was wondering what the weather was going to do. Malone was always terrified of storms and he believes that his fear turned into an obsession. He was raised in Tornado Alley a couple of hours northwest of Dallas in the northwest Texas town of Archer City.
After he had left Archer City, he went to Norman, Oklahoma. He is a no-stranger to Southeast Louisiana’s wild weather as he had worked as a meteorologist on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for about 2.25 years. While there, he covered countless tornadoes, tropical storms, a few winter weather events, and a hurricane.
His time on the Gulf Coast created a new obsession with his weather world and the tropics. His first hurricane coverage was Nate. Payton states that he realized after living on the Gulf Coast for a few years that tropical forecasting is where his passion is right now.
He also states that he is more than thrilled to get to continue to grow his tropical forecasting skills in Southeast Louisiana. Away from work, he spends a lot of his time in the kitchen baking. Asides from that he is a huge coffee fan and is always in search of the best coffee in New Orleans.
