Sherry Swensk is an American Meteorologist/Weather working with KLAS-TV/8NewsNow where she serves the station as a weather anchor for the This Morning show. She has been working with KLAS-TV since the year 1994.

Swensk works with KLAS-TV where she serves the station as a Morning Weather Anchor. She has been working in Las Vegas since July of the year 1994, the night the Hilton sign blew down from terrific thunderstorms. It was with that that she knew she was in the right place to do the weather. Swensk is a proud graduate of the University of Texas located in Arlington where she graduated with a degree in radio and television.
She is a proud Texas native and was born in Dallas. Sherry kick-started her career editing TV programs like P.M. Magazine at WFAA-TV in Big D. This was prior to quickly moving west to Los Angeles and beautiful San Francisco. Swensk also spent a few years eating sourdough bread and visiting the Wine Country. Additionally, she was editing and also produced entertainment and travel shows, along with documentaries and nationally syndicated environmental reports.
She found her true calling using her gift of gab as a weather anchor. She was also working as a weekend weather anchor at KFSN in warm Fresno which wasn’t hot enough for her in the Central Valley. After moving to Las Vegas, she wakes up early in order to make it 8NewsNow This morning on Channel 8.
She says that this is a great way to beat the heat and the morning commute. Sherry is a part of the 8NewsNow Live at Noon team and also produces Living Green, which is an eco-franchise report about living sustainability in the fragile desert environment.
Away from work, she enjoys spending a lot of time with her family. She also serves on the board of the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association where she was working to help thousands of Southern Nevadans. This includes her mom, and their families living and dealing with the disease.
Sherry also visits schools for career fairs and classrooms to “talk weather” with kids, and volunteers as host/emcee at fundraising events for non-profit groups all over Southern Nevada. She states that there are so many deserving organizations that are working to improve the quality of life for the people who call Las Vegas home.
She states that she loves the town because of how different and quirky it is. Swensk also loves the town because of how normal the people are and how they have the desire to make an honest living and raising a healthy, happy life. She goes ahead to state that the world’s spotlight on them and there could not be a more exciting place to live at the moment.
