Shimon Prokupecz is an American Emmy-Award-Winning Correspondent/Producer/Editor working with CNN News serving the station as a crime and justice correspondent in New York. Prior to this, he was working in the station’s Washington, D.C. bureau.

Prokupecz works with CNN serving the station as a crime and justice correspondent. He principally covers law enforcement and also reports on breaking national news stories. Shimon was a member of the Emmy-award-winning team which captured the FBI raid on Roger Stone’s home in the year 2019.
He has previously worked in the network’s Washington, D.C. bureau where he was playing an integral role in covering the investigation examining Russian meddling in U.S. elections. During his time working at the station, he has also reported on the Mueller Investigation, the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting, and the Justice Department bringing charges against Robert Menendez among others.
He kick-started his career at CNN in the year 2013 working as a justice producer in Washington, D.C. This was prior to relocating to the station’s New York bureau as a law enforcement producer. There, he was covering the New York Police Department, various law enforcement agencies in the Northeast U.S., and the FBI.
Prior to joining the CNN team, he loves working as a producer at WNBC and as an assignment editor at WABC in New York City. Previously, he was serving as a paralegal in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office. The Brooklyn, New York native is a proud graduate of Hunter College.
