Susan Koeppen Biography
Susan Koeppen is an American journalist working for WPXI as an anchor of Channel 11 News at 4 p.m. and the Breaking News Desk for Channel 11 News at 5 p.m. She joined the station in August 2021. Additionally, she has worked for Susan Koeppen Media as president since January 2021.

Koeppen attended Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications after completing her high school education. When she finished her studies, she became a graduate and attained a Bachelor’s degree.

After suffering a cardiac arrest, she serves as a national spokesperson for the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation. Closely, she works with the American Heart Association. Further, she has shared her story with a number of national talk programs.
There, she works as an emcee, motivational speaker, and moderator for local and national happenings. Further, she worked as an anchor for KDKA’s newscasts in Pittsburgh. Before Pittsburgh, she served CBS News’ The Early Show as a consumer correspondent. Koeppen loves traveling and visited each continent apart from Antarctica. Susan Koeppen Cardiac Arrest/Heart Attack
In November 2011, Koeppen suffered cardiac arrest while training for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon two miles into the run at the age of 39. Following the incident, two medical students(from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School) happened to pass by and gave her CPR.
Further, firefighters from the Pittsburgh Fire Bureau shocked her heart with an AED. She was clinically dead for 7 minutes before her heart was shocked back into rhythm. Later, she was rushed to Shadyside Hospital and sent to the ICU.
While there, she was put on a ventilator and placed in a hypothermia treatment. Following two weeks in the hospital, she had a defibrillator implanted in her chest. Three months later, she underwent open-heart surgery to repair her faulty mitral valve.
