Tanya Eiserer is an American five-time Emmy award-winning investigative reporter working at WFAA. She joined the WFAA team in 2018.
Tanya Eiserer Career
Gulf Coast in Texas City is her native home and while growing up, she was a political junkie however, she has never covered politics. Before she joined the WFAA in 2014, she served as a newspaper reporter for seventeen years. In addition, an Emmy was presented to her in 2019, for her continuous coverage of Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer who says she shot a man in his own home because she thought it was hers.
Furthermore, she was the first to obtain a copy of the 911 recording Guyger made in the moments after she shot Botham Jean. For her Jailed to Death series, she won an Emmy award. Her series led lawmakers to change how jailers are trained. The Headliners Foundation honored her with the Charles E. Green Award for Excellence in Journalism for her coverage of the Atmos gas explosion that claimed the life of a little girl. In addition, she has previously won an Emmy for her story that uncovered lapses in security at a local Army reserve base and for her story about a rape victim’s quest for justice.
Additionally, for her story on family secrets, she won a regional Murrow in 2018. She had to travel to San Quentin to meet her cousin who had spent almost twenty years in prison for murder. Eiserer joined Texas City High School where he graduated proudly in 1990. Later in 1992, she joined the University of Houston where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1995.
