Tenikka Hughes is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist working for WJAX as an anchor. She anchors the 5, 6, and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts on CBS47 and the 6:30 and 10 p.m. newscasts on FOX30.

Hughes attended Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina where she graduated summa cum laude with an undergraduate degree in Mass Communications. She then attained her Master’s in Journalism from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland at College Park.

She investigated the lack of supervision at the hospital and how it may have contributed to the death of the young man. Hughes confronted local massage establishments accused of employing unlicensed workers and talked to experts about the other concerns associated with this illegal practice.
Hughes worked for Action News Jacksonville’s sister station, WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina where she served as an anchor and reporter for five years before making the move to the River City. She had also spent some time working for stations in Macon, Georgia, and Memphis, Tennessee. Due to her unquestionable skills in journalism, her work has been featured on quite a number of national media outlets and some of her research has also been published in the Journal of Health Communication.
