Hillis serves at News 9 as an anchor for the weekend morning news and is a reporter at 9 am on weekdays. She grew up admiring strong women with a voice of change, and this is how Tevis found her way into pageants. It was due to this that she was acknowledged as Miss Lawton 2019 and Miss Lawton’s Outstanding Teen 2015.
During her studies at college, she found herself diving deep into all of the aspects of Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. She first began her career at OU Nightly first as a reporter and then anchor. Later she tenured on a college campus at the only nationally televised show as the host of Sooner Sports Pad.
For her ‘Pain in the Neck,’ which is one of her stories that won the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association Television Feature News Story award. Later she won a Regional Mark of Excellence award in the Society of Professional Journalists.
She tenured as an intern during her time in college at a local tv station in Lawton, KSWO which later on the weekends led to an on-air fellowship. Hillis was also tenured as an intern at KSL Salt Lake City, Utah. While there she would travel with award-winning journalists and also worked flying helicopters and got a chance to see the world outside Oklahoma. She began her career at News 9 which did her dream come true station.
