Tim Simpson Biography
Tim Simpson is an American Meteorologist working with WREG3 where he serves the station as a Meteorology and the Chief Weather Anchor for WREG-TV located in Memphis, TV. There, he anchors WREG’s weather casts every weekday at 4, 4:30, and 6 PM. He is the supervisor for WREG’s weather department since the year 1994.

Simpson works with WREG3 News where he serves the station as a Chief Weather Anchor. He started his television career working in Greenville, South Carolina before later on moving to Huntsville, Alabama. The year 1994 saw him move back to the Mid-South and joined News Channel 3 as a Chief Meteorologist.
Simpson holds the National Weather Association’s Seal of Approval and the year 1997 saw him being honored with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Accomplishment in Weathercasting. Additionally, he also picked up a second Emmy Award in the year 2009 for his coverage of the Super Tuesday tornadoes of 2008.
He forecasts the weather for News Channel 3 at 4, 4:30, and 6 each weekday. However, forecasting is not the only part of his job rather he also speaks at churches, civic groups, and schools around the Mid-South about weather and severe weather in particular. Additionally, when severe weather strikes, he is mostly seen broadcasting live on News Channel 3.
When there is a tornado warning, for any for counties, he can be seen staying for the duration of that warning making sure that the viewers have the lifesaving information they need. He says that severe weather cut-ins can be an inconvenience to some.

However, he also says he can’t tell the number of people he has met through the years who credit the coverage with saving their lives during a tornado event. He also states that the coverage can make a difference between life and death for those in the path of a tornado.
Away from work, he enjoys shooting and editing videos. Additionally, he is an instrument-rated private pilot and enjoys any time can he spend in the cockpit. For him, flying is a great stress reliever. Asides from News Channel 3 Weather, he also hosts the popular Pass It On segment seen each Wednesday on Daybreak and t 6 PM.
