Tom Schaad Biography
Tom Schaad is an American Emmy award-winning anchor working at WAVY-TV where he serves as the co-anchor of the 5,6, and 11 pm newscast and as the 10 pm anchor on WBVT-TV. He joined the WAVY-TV team in December 2007.

In 1976, Schaad joined Bethel Park High School where he graduated with a Diploma in communication and media studied in 1980. Later on, she joined Duquesne University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications in 1984.

Schaad works at WAVY-TV where he serves as the co-anchor of the 5,6, and 11 pm newscast. He has worked in television for over 36 years and during this time, he has worked from Florida to West Virginia to Pittsburgh, PA to New York. He worked at WESH-TV for a number of years and while he was at the station, he served as a morning news anchor. In addition, he earned a number of accolades for his reporting inclusive of a shared Columbia Dupont award for the 2003 Columbia space shuttle tragedy.
For Schaad’s reporting, he has received four regional Emmy awards and a number of VAB awards, and Associated Press awards. Furthermore, he found a home in Hampton Roads that hosts many community events, such as local walks for Survivors of Suicide, the American Heart Association Heart Ball, Leukemia, Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night, Heroes at Home Military Spouse of the Year Awards, and many others.
Additionally, he co-anchor the coverage of the Virginia Beach Mass Shooting for WAVY. Further coverage, WAVY-TV was recognized for its sensitivity and excellence during a tragedy touching the whole community. During his leisure time, he enjoys dabbling in photography, enjoys spending ample time with his family, and assisting his wife Crystal in her Crystal Palate boutique.
